Easy Beach Style
Happy July! It’s been HOT here in the Northeast, with temps reaching 100 plus degrees this week! I rarely complain about the heat, but I definitely feel it differently as I get older. Where to find relief? For me, the beach is the place. The water is still pretty cold here, so those breezes off of the bay and ocean definitely help! And beyond that, the beach just always makes me feel better, no matter what else is happening in my life. One of my favorite beach quotes goes something like this: “the cure for anything is salt water- tears, sweat or the sea,” and I agree with this whole heartedly!
As for beach style, I subscribe to the theory that less is definitely more, and with just a few simple pieces you can look great and stay cool. One of my favorite things to throw on these days is a versatile pareo or sarong. It can be tied at the waist as a skirt, or up higher to create a strapless coverup. At night, when it cools off you can throw it over your shoulders and wear as a scarf or shawl.
I am also a big fan of the black one piece bathing suit, and this year I’m getting behind the stretch crinkle trend. And even though it’s trendy, If you chose a classic shape like the square neck tank, it will have style-longevity.
Finally, a large brim hat is a must to protect yourself from the sun, and I rarely leave home without one these days after years of tanning in my youth. I also love to add some fun earrings- usually hoops, shells or something boho and fun.
I’m rounding up some of my picks below to help keep you cool and stylish at the beach all summer. Enjoy!
Now grab your beach bag and go have yourself a fabulous summer! xx
